Plains Wars

On 25 June 1876, one of the most famous battles in world history was fought on a small hillside in Southern Montana. Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer was killed along with 210 troopers of the US 7th Cavalry Regiment. The victorious Sioux and Cheyenne warriors had also killed 40 other troopers approximately four miles away. The battle is known by the Native Americans as “The Greasy Grass”, but is more well known by the rest of the world as “The Battle of the Little Big Horn” of “Custer’s Last Stand”.

Our US Plains Wars games try to capture some of the atmosphere of the 1860’s and 1870’s conflict, which resulted in the eventual surrender of the Sioux Nations, including such well-known names as Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse. Roving bands of Indian Braves attack US Cavalry forces in defence of their homelands and hunting grounds, and in retaliation for their treatment by the US Government. To spice things up and increase the fun, we have added in other elements such as Outlaw Gangs and Posses, Wagon Trains, Gold Prospectors and Railways.

The participants will take control of the US Cavalry and the Western Civilians. Their aim will be to achieve pre-designated objectives, and to accomplish any new objectives that arise during the course of the game. Pre planning of the allocation of their forces and responsibilities is very important and will require the team to work effectively together to ensure survival and success.

The forces of the Indian Braves and the Outlaws are umpire controlled and are subject to random action or pre programmed events. This means that no two games will ever be the same and ensures maximum fun and enjoyment out of the experience.
